Position Overview


The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the Accounting team who is focused on the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements at MOD. This includes processing general ledger and sub-ledger transactions and reconciling assigned general ledger accounts. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, learn new systems easily, and be able to work in a fast-paced and growing business with conflicting deadlines. They will be analytical, organized and detail oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills are a must, as is the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in month-end closing of the general ledger, including preparation and posting of appropriate journal entries, reserves and accruals; reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Ensure that estimates, accruals, reserves and provisions are calculated and supported with appropriate basis or backup, in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Review trial balance and financial statements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Review journal entries of staff accountants to ensure the appropriateness of all entries prior to posting.
  • Assist with annual financial statement audit as needed
  • Perform ad hoc research and analysis of information from the accounting system and research complex accounting principles and positions.
  • Prepare internal reports for Management to help track and evaluate Company performance.
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of appropriate documentation for key accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls. Seek to make continuous improvements to processes and procedures where appropriate


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of similar, progressive experience in Accounting, month-end closing procedures, reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Technologically savvy with excellent Excel skills
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Public Accounting experience preferred


Physical Requirements

Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
