Position Overview:

  • The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for duties pertaining to the administration and accounting for the company's 400+ leases.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Complete period-end close journal entries under the new ASC 842 lease accounting standard, prepare account reconciliations, and perform additional analysis as necessary.
  • Enter new agreements, validate data, and lead process improvement initiatives in the lease accounting software
  • Prepare the monthly import for rent payments; calculate and process percentage rent payments.
  • Assist in collection efforts for Tenant Improvement Allowances.
  • Assist Real Estate, Construction, Finance, and Operations with regular and ad hoc requests.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Provide coaching and training to less experienced team members

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 3-5 years accounting experience, preferably in the restaurant industry.
  • CPA preferred
  • Previous lease administration duties preferred.
  • Understanding of lease accounting under current GAAP with an ability to learn the new ASC 842 standard and ability to research accounting issues, as necessary.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including an ability to influence the thinking or gaining the acceptance of others in sensitive situations
  • Strong business acumen and critical thinking, problem solving, project management, data collection and analysis skills are essential
  • Technologically savvy with advanced Excel skills
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage multiple priorities
  • A positive upbeat personality who believes in opportunities rather than obstacles
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of responsibilities and a master of problem solving
