Position Overview

The IT Security oversees and coordinates all Information Technology security efforts across the company.  The person in this role will plan, develop, and direct the computer and information security function under VP of IT’s direction.


Key Responsibilities:

Manage an effective information security program, which provides appropriate levels of protection to the organization, while minimizing invasiveness to our employees and reducing negative impact to productivity.

  • Accountable for overall planning, directing and organizing activities related to information technology security, and ensure its effective operation.
  • Plan, design, build, implement and maintain security standards, programs, policies and processes which enable business operational success while minimizing risk.
  • Responsible for the research, design, development and implementation of computer security/protection technologies for the organization's information and process systems/applications.
  • Work with VP of IT and Risk Committee to prioritize security initiatives and spending based on appropriate risk management. 
  • Manage and maintain the effectiveness of both the tools and vendor partnerships required to execute a successful security program
  • Performs regular system vulnerability assessments and reports findings and recommendations. 
  • Lead the investigation and communication of computer and/or information security incidents. Determine cause of incident and develop / execute plan to mitigate risk.  
  • Manage outside consultants as appropriate for independent security audits 
  • Keeps Risk Committee informed on major accomplishments, issues and concerns.
  • Stays informed about the latest security developments, trends and threats in the information security field, including new products and services.
  • Monitors current and proposed laws, regulations (ie. PCI, SOX, Consumer Data Protection, etc.) and industry standards so that MOD Pizza is warned in advance and is ready to be fully compliant with these requirements.
  • Provides assistance to our Franchise Partners with regards to their security compliance efforts and ensures they are satisfying security requirements. 
  • Lead annual PCI compliance and Sox compliance processes.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other studies relevant to this position.
  • 6+ years of experience in a computer / information security role.
  • Experience implementing policies, procedures and processes, preferably in a restaurant or retail environment.
  • Outstanding work ethic; exhibits a “sense of urgency” relative to resolving issues. Some work may be required during non-standard work hours.
  • Excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills, with an emphasis on being able to present technical topics in an easy to understand way for non-technical people.
  • Able to articulate issues, build consensus around recommendations, and define next steps.
  • Team oriented, yet able to work independently; very self-motivated.
  • Customer focused.  Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to meet common objectives through teamwork
  • A solid knowledge of security related industry standards and frameworks, such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001/2, NIST, OWASP, SANS, Sox, CoBit, ITIL, COSO, FISMA


Preferred Qualifications

  • Appropriate licenses/certification required … examples could include: CISSP, CISM, PCI ISA, GIAC, CCNA, CCSP, CCNP, MCSE, Security+, Network+


Physical Requirements

Office Semi-Technical work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to handle or move objects. Semi-regularly positioning oneself (e.g., stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist, kneel, crouch) to set up, install, and repair computer equipment. Systems & Network Admin/Engineers regularly handle or move objects weighing up to 20 lbs.; occasionally up to 40lbs (team lift okay). Deskside Support regularly handle or move objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Communicate or exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person or electronically.
