Position Overview

The Technical Reporting Manager is focused on the preparation and review of the external financial statements at MOD. The ideal candidate will be adept at performing technical accounting research, developing accounting policies, and drafting technical memos. They will assist with month-end close, including but not limited to, the implementation of complex accounting policies, journal entries, and reconciliation. Candidates should be organized, detail oriented, and motivated. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced and growth-oriented company. This position reports to the Controller.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review MOD’s financial statements, including support schedules, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Monitor current accounting and regulatory developments with regards to current FASB pronouncements, SEC rules, and other standard setting organizations.
  • Draft technical accounting memos in accordance with GAAP and provide guidance to the accounting and finance teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute MOD accounting policies; consult with operations as appropriate in application of our policies. Train accounting and business personnel as needed.
  • Manage the Sarbanes-Oxley program to ensure that MOD maintains appropriate financial controls over financial reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations in assigned areas.
  • Review new contracts to ensure appropriate application of GAAP.
  • Coordinate external audit and quarterly reviews, including implementation of new accounting policies.
  • Maintain MOD global accounting and finance close calendar.
  • Ad hoc projects as needed.


Basic Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of seven years of accounting experience
  • CPA required
  • Public Accounting experience required
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley monitoring required
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting and financial issues and apply technical literature appropriately
  • Requires knowledge of SEC regulatory reporting
  • Ability to work effectively and independently while managing concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities. Must be able to multi-task.


Physical Requirements

Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
