Position Overview

The Controller is responsible for the company's financial statements, general ledger, accounts payable, and managing banking and insurance relationships.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership to accounting team.  Attract, recruit and develop talent that supports the overall growth of the business.
  • Recommend, establish, document and enforce internal control policies and procedures including Sarbanes Oxley documentation.
  • Oversee the monthly close cycle along with other accounting management.  Prepare monthly financial package for Exec team and Board of Directors with support from accounting team.
  • Support the CFO in strategic planning, including variance analysis
  • Maintain banking relationships. Act as primary check signer and wire approver for the business.
  • Maintain insurance relationships.  Coordinate with staff on annual insurance renewal and policy application as needs arise.
  • Review key legal contracts for financial and technical accounting application to support the business.
  • Lead the annual audit and financial statement preparation with support of accounting team.
  • Support the business in other financial and administrative as needed.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • CPA designation
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience, with at least 3+ years’ experience in the restaurant or retail industry and preferably multi-unit operations.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and experience in application.
  • An understanding and commitment to MOD’s values

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP
  • Big 4 Accounting experience

 

Physical Requirements

Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
