The Staff Accountant II supports the operational accounting group and is focused on helping the team scale for business growth. This position reports to the Manager of Accounting. The ideal candidate has experience in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in periodic closing of the general ledger, including preparation and posting of appropriate journal entries, reserves, and accruals. Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Preparation of schedules to support cross-functional and external company needs, including variance analysis.
  • Participate in projects to scale systems and processes for automation and future company growth.
  • Collaborate within the finance team and other departments to provide ad hoc reporting and other project support.
  • Assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Serve as a back-up for other operational accounting areas, including fixed assets and lease accounting.
  • Other ad hoc projects as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 2+ years of similar, progressive experience in Accounting, month-end closing procedures, reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Technologically savvy with excellent Excel skills
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license
  • Public Accounting experience

Physical Requirements

Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
